Nowadays Bollywood is obsessed with 100 cr mark. But is this number good enough for celebration?
India's population - 120 crore
Say only 2/3rd of population understands hindi - 80 cr
say 50% afford to go to cinemas - 40 cr
Avg cinema ticket price - Rs.100
So to reach 100 cr mark you need - 1 crore people to watch movie in theater
So getting 1 crore people out of 40 crore is it an achievement or underachievement
And i am not sure if this 100 cr includes overseas business. If that is the case then the number goes down further.

so by ur analysis if a movie makes 1ooo cr the movie is good.
ReplyDeleteN Commercial success is not a criteria to judge whether movie is good or bad. What I mean is 100 cr is nothing. There is nothing as such to celebrate and make hoopla about it
